Automation is not only about displacing work. Automation focuses on performing dangerous, repetitive or boring tasks. In other words, automation also focuses on enhancing the work that is done by people

Story: But, there’s the visceral fear in Tech Futures: Is your job safe? McKinsey, the global consulting firm, stated:

“Fewer than 5% of occupations can be entirely automated using current technology. However, about 60% of all occupations could have 30% or more of their constituent activities automated. In other words, automation is likely to change the vast majority of occupations – at least to some degree – which will necessitate significant job redefinition and a transformation of business processes.”1

McKinsey looked at the technical feasibility of automating the following seven occupations:

Work Lesson Earned: The other day I was giving a Future of Work (FOW) talk. I asked the tech workers if they thought their jobs would be automated or at least disrupted within five years. There were a lot of bemused looks. I thought I’d get snarky comments. Half of the audience raised their hands. I don’t think anyone had been as blunt to them as I. However, they got it.

Start planning for  your new journey toward an adaptable, resilient, bold, competitive, learning, and remunerative future. FOW ninjas should be continually learning how to upgrade their marketable practices.
