Great tagline.  Now we believe that everyone’s new tagline is:

Cyber Security is Job #1!

The US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has just finalized its much expected cyber security risk management framework.

President Obama directed NIST to develop a risk management   framework to secure infrastructure vital to the US and for that matter’s any country’s critical infrastructure such as banking, electrical power grid, water, and transportation.

The NIST framework offers a set of cyber domains, processes, and activities that can be used to mitigate against intrusions of critical infrastructure systems.  You can download the cyber security risk framework.  And, also download the cyber security roadmap.  You can used these to evaluate (gap analyze) commercial and critical control systems and IT.

The NIST cyber security framework is a risk framework.  ISO 27001, the popular information security management system (ISMS), is cited and is one of the preferred standards for deploying the NIST framework.

Why is this critical for all professionals?  All personal identity information is now in digital form.  In the internet of everything, all devices will have embedded software and an address that are potential access points.  Information and data and the most valuable commodities in organizations.

There, much like quality was to Ford 30 years ago:

Cyber security is now everyone’s Job #1.
