#9 – WHAT ISO DOESN’T WANT YOU TO KNOW!

Greg Hutchins pixISO 31000 is the primary ISO risk management standard.  Good to great document.

Killer Tip:  All companies that are ISO 9001 registered should get the document NOW and prepare for incorporating risk into their quality management systems.

Only one huge problem.  The 24 or so pages of the standard sells for $148.50 in western countries.  The problem is the standard can be had for about $8 in India!

What gives?  Well, standards bodies say that they need money to support development.  The rich counties and risk individuals can pay for it.  OK.  Makes sense, I guess.

So, here is the work hack to get YOUR PERSONAL COPY OF ISO 31000 :

Google/Bing:

  • “ISO 31000 free”
  • “ISO 31000 DIS Free”
  • “ISO 31000 FDIS Free”

So, what are these? DIS is an acronym for “Draft International Standard” and FDIS stands for “Final Draft International Standard.”  Both are review copies that are passed to reviewers and are put on the web.  They are 95% or more what’s in the final standard.

HOWEVER IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A COMPANY COPY, WE STILL WOULD LIKE YOU TO GET A COMPANY LICENSE FOR THE STANDARD.
