  • Can apply to any activity or domain in any organisation, any size – public or private
  • Provides an “umbrella” for many recognised standards and guidelines that refer to risk management
  • Voluntary application, non prescriptive, with no legal requirement and specifically not intended for certification
  • Robust and simple to apply
  • Opportunity for an organisation to review their existing risk management practices
  • Promotes business performance and is not a bureaucratic compliance/reporting system
  • Text is concise (24 pages) and clearly written
  • What are the specific benefits for every sector?
  • Provides a simple structure for regulatory requirements.
  • Proposes a vocabulary, a set of principles, a framework and a process for the management of risks across departments.
  • ü  Risk management is not a function of a single department any more, but may be embedded in organization’s decision making processes.
  • HOW to get my company certified in ISO 31000 ?
  • The standard clearly states that “ISO 31000 is not intented to be used for the purpose of certification”. Therefore, there is no certification of organisations.
