The Future of Warfare – Greg Hutchins

Greg Hutchins pixThe future of warfare is being debated in Washington next week.

Next week is ‘Cyber Week.’  Washington is debating four cyber security bills.  Lots of noise.  Lots of discussion.  Lots of differences.

Cyber warfare, or asymmetric warfare, is the future of warfare.  The worse case scenario is that a lone hacker of state agent would use the web to gain control of a industrial control system (ICS) of a nuke plant, water facility, or chemical plant.  It’s real.  it’s doable.

The argument comes down to public safety versus government intrusion of privacy rights.   You’d think the Republicans would advocate for the former and the Democrats for the latter.

Well, it’s reversed.  The Republicans are fighting to protect personal and corporate rights.   The Democrats are worried about a Fukushima.  Go figure.
