When You’re in the Box, You Can’t See the Box

Greg Hutchins pixI like disruptive technologies.  They change things.  They make things fun.  They create opportunities to make money or find a new job.

The problem is that they can be changing things all around you and you can’t see the changes?  Why?  Think of it as Hutchins POV (Point of View)  principle.

When you’re in the box, you can’t see the box.

And, this is how disruptive technologies work.  They impact you without your knowing it because we’re all the box and can’t see it until it’s impacted us.

I’ve been wondering what are today’s disruptive technologies.  I don’t see them as I used to twenty or even ten years ago.

I read a Time Magazine today that listed three meaningful disruptive technologies which are:

1. Smart phones.
2. 3-D printing.
3. Drones also called unmanned aerial vehicles.

Can you think of any others?
